Their love was legendary, cursed, and forbidden.
The fates conspired to keep them apart, but destiny will bring them together again…
When one of their own becomes the target of a demon bent on revenge, the Society will do anything to keep her safe, including stealing a God from the Heavens.
Heru, son of Geb, once sold his soul to forget her, and now he’ll give anything to keep her safe.
Gods and Demons collide in the final installment of Charity Parkerson’s award-winning “Sinners” series.

Excerpt:

“I dreamed about you last night.” Heat flooded her face at the confession. She knew it must be the shade of a strawberry, but she lifted her eyes to his, holding his stare steadily, as if daring him to mock her words. For a moment, she could have sworn a look of triumph passed over his face, but it was gone as quickly as it appeared.

“What was the dream about?”

Marissa had thought that it was impossible to be any more embarrassed than she already was, but at his question, she discovered a whole new level of humiliation.

“Um,” she stuttered before admitting, “I don’t want to tell you.”

“Oh,” he crowed. “It was that kind of dream, was it?” While his eyes were shining with mirth, her face was on fire, and she really wanted kick him.

Shut up,” she hissed.

“Ever as you command,” he said, but she could still hear the laughter in his voice.

Fanning her face, Marissa practically danced in place in her discomfort.

“Are you having some sort of fit?” Adriana, Marissa’s mom, asked, slicing through her mortification.

Marissa had not heard her approach and she shot a nervous glimpse at the tree line to find Harold gone.

“I was attempting a spell.” Marissa answered Adriana’s question absently while searching for any sign that Harold was still hanging around. When her mom remained silent, Marissa glanced over to find her watching her closely, and she pasted a fake smile on her face in order to ease her mother’s obvious concern.

“Okay,” Adriana said, drawing out the word and sounding as if she didn’t believe her, which was a spot-on observation, since Marissa was lying.

Amazon Removes Tags From Kindle Book Pages

Just a quick heads up for all the indie, self-published writers out there who publish on Kindle – Amazon made an overhaul of Kindle book pages and Tags have disappeared.

Whether this is permanent or not, remains to be seen. This is Amazon, after all, they keep changing things constantly. Most of the time we do not even notice these changes. This time, however, it’s very noticeable – the Tags are gone, a few other things seem to be reshuffled slightly around the pages.

To those who advocated using Tags for better visibility in Amazon search, it looks like that now they will have to rely on the old-fashioned keyword loading in the book description and other parts of the page.

How would the absence of Tags affect search visibility and the book rankings? Hard to say right now. I would venture a guess that there would be only a few authors who’d notice the difference. For the majority of indies who publish on Kindle, this should not make any difference at all – more than 95% of the books on Amazon are not being seen by readers too often. Having Tags or not will not change that.

I suppose the “Like & Tag” game we writers are so fond of, is now “Like” only.

Grecian Fantasies hosts one of the hottest balls in town, a naughty Nobody-Knows-Your-Name masquerade that is not only exclusive, but is also not for the faint of heart.

Pleasure, fantasy, fetish, and vice are all on the menu at this ball. The only thing not up for grabs is the notorious woman behind its creation, but that is about to change.

Excerpt:

“I’m Weston,” he said as he wound Rob’s ribbon around his neck, tying it in a neat bow, and making himself appear as a giant unwanted present. “What’s your desire?” Rob started to tell Weston that he desired for him to go away, but a bright yellow feather caught his eye once more, and his gaze found the Goddess across the room.

“I need you to fetch someone,” Rob answered, deciding to use the awkward situation to his advantage.

“Oh, yay, a threesome,” Weston cheered. “May I suggest Mike over there,” he said, pointing to a gigantic man wearing a plain black mask. “He has lumberjack hands,” Weston added cheerfully.

Rob paused. Lumberjack hands? No, he was not going to ask. “What are lumberjack hands?”

“You know, he can wield his . . .” Weston began before Rob waved his hand, cutting him off.

“Never mind, I get the picture.” And he did, too. He would never be able to wash this moment from his mind. Getting back on track before things got out of hand, Rob pointed across the room. “Bring her to me,” he ordered.

Weston’s face fell as he caught sight of the woman to which Rob referred. “I cannot,” he stammered, sounding horrified.

“What the hell? I thought you were supposed to fulfill my desires or some shit?”

Weston seemed honestly distraught over Rob’s aggravation. “I’m sorry. If you ask me to fetch anyone else for a bit of fun, then I am at your service, any service,” he added, raking Rob’s body with his eyes. “However, that is Theadonis and I cannot do as you command.”

“The Adonis,” Rob repeated, sounding ridiculous even to his own ears. “I thought Adonis was a man. That is no man.” As the words left Rob’s mouth, he found himself tilting his head to one side and studying the woman closer just in case he was wrong.

Weston rolled his eyes. “Not ‘the Adonis.’ Theadonis. That’s her name. She is the owner of Grecian Fantasies.”

Review for “Apart from Love” by Uvi Poznansky

Apart From Love

Click on image to read a sample of the novel on Amazon.

Review:

To me, this novel is reminiscent of a Chinese mystery from Ming Dynasty. Allow me to elaborate – we know WHAT crime was committed; we know HOW it was done; we know WHO committed the crime. Now we need to find answers to the following questions – WHY the crime was committed and what PUNISHMENT the criminal would or deserve to receive.

Take it from there and we spend a lot of time inside main characters’ heads unraveling these mysteries all through the story which makes for a fascinating and twisted reading…

Blind Veil by Michael Lorde – Excerpt

About the Author: Michael was raised in a rural town in upstate New York and has two sons and two daughters. After living in a warmer climate for nearly thirty years, Michael has since moved back north with the youngest daughter of the four. They are dog lovers and have two. Blind Veil is Michael’s debut novel.

Excerpt:

It’s a golden rule in law enforcement that you never handcuff in the front. There are very few exceptions: obesity, pregnant females, some juveniles. The pat down was a joke too. He leaned forward, to conceal the pocket knife that remained deep in his shorts pocket. If he’d felt any deadly threat from them, it would have been over long before now.
He was once again being detained against his will and that led Simms to instantly dislike the man in front of him. It was something to do with his mannerism. Simms drank the watered down coffee, sizing him up the whole time.
He was fortyish, probably married to a woman he ignored. He forced himself to appear decent to people, though he was anything but. He was balding but, instead of a comb-over, he elected to trim the thin wisp of hair on top extra short in order to minimize its contrast. With his ashen complexion, he resembled a vampire Simms saw in a movie once, the skin punctuated here and there with deep acne scars. The man stood at the doorway wheezing softly. He was antsy, waiting while trying to relax at the same time. His oversized forehead sported a unibrow and his dark mustache was almost lost under his large nose. His ears were disproportionately small, like dried peaches. One hand hung at his side, hovering over his weapon, and the other drummed with annoyance on his thigh. He attempted a professional stance, deliberately extending what little chest he had as far out as possible over his belly. No doubt he practiced this before a mirror. In his black suit and starched white shirt, he reminded Lamont of a penguin; a large, odd, unlikeable sort of penguin.
“Do you want to tell me why the hell I’m still handcuffed?” Simms demanded.
This man was uncomfortable to be here and it suddenly occurred to Simms what a threat he posed to the agent. These people didn’t know a thing about him. It was time to use this to his advantage. After three days with Byron, he was out of patience.

Why write? Guest post by Matt Frend

Why write?

Why not play music, make a film or be a game developer. The key for me is imagination. Although music, film and gaming have their own magic, giving people the recipes to make their own imaginary banquets is something special again.

In a sense, characters belong to the reader as well as the writer, much like having acquaintances whose actions of course we have little control over. I like to think I write with respect for the reader in mind. I don’t feel this is in conflict with an artistic commitment to be free of popular or commercial influences; it’s more of a guideline to assist with staying within the bounds of reason or good taste. I sometimes have to rein the fast gallop back to a working trot, listening instead to the reader looking over my shoulder.

When I start reading a novel I feel there’s a bond of trust I’m entering into – an expectation that I’ll be going on a journey with the writer at the helm. So now in return I aspire to meet that expectation when I write.

As a side note to this, Life Before Death had its own motivation for being written. It was more out of loyalty than fulfilling any personal dream. It is a heavily fictionalized memoir, the purpose of which is to deliver the primary message contained in the book.

I make no excuses for the controversial nature of its content. It’s life as it happened. Much like that saying, life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.

One benefit writing a novel has given me is a goal to keep on writing after finding I enjoy it so much. Unlocking the imagination and finding an outlet for it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my altogether too short life. The bouncy puppy of inspiration must be played with or it will burst.

I highly recommend writing in all its forms to anyone – keeping a diary; jotting down a simple rhyme – even scribbling away with your personal history as I have done. Apart from being a lot of fun it can have a therapeutic effect.

I am very thankful for it.

If you are struggling with a Book Title, you are in luck

Writing a book is the easy bit. Coming up with a good title for it – much harder. Take Leo Tolstoy, for example. He went through titles like “The Year 1805” and “All’s Well That Ends Well” (really?) before settling on “War and Peace”. And even that he “borrowed” from a guy he knew.

As you can see, sometimes even the best of writers get stuck on coming up with a good book title. To help them get unstuck, I’ve wrote a few suggestions:

Buk of speling erors

Little Red Book of Adam Smith

Capitalist Manifesto

Facts from around the World you didn’t know because you are stupid

Title by an Author

Chicken soup for your feet

Tank Tops are for the Wicked

The life and music of Elvis Presley After the Retirement

If you read this Title, than you can read!

From Here to There in six easy lessons

War and more War

The Tao of Whatever

Singing Along with your Cat

Encyclopedia Britannica Abridged, Six Pages Edition

How to bore women into sleeping with you, the ultimate pick-up manual

My Struggle with a Bucket

How to become Fabulous on a $6.59 a Day Budget

Get out of Debt, Get out of Here

The Bell tolls for you, Silly

The book of Extra Words

Symphony of Pharts

Stoners of the World, Unite or Whatever!

Princes One-Brow

Sailing around the world in a plane

Tentative, Superfluities and other words I can’t spell

Urban Myths, Obfuscated

The book of words in Italic

How to say “I” in one hundred and seventeen languages

Terminal Torrent of Trivial Trifles

The Obvious Observations of the Ordinary

How to Write and Publish a Sentence

Kittens, Baby Seals and Other Tasty Ingredients

The Book of Cliffhangers with Pictures of Actual Cliffs

Popular Sayings of Unpopular People

Strength through Sitting

The Cogitating Book of Cerebration

Tentative Wonderings on Fleeting Flatteries

Where Cows come to Rust

Please feel free to use any of the above titles. Let me know if you need more – I’ll be happy to write them when I get a couple of minutes to spare.
